I only know how to say "registrar" because being an international student has me visiting them at least twice a week.

And my god are you scaring me right about now, because I am in the same boat right at this time. I have a portfolio submission I have to get through in April in order to get into my program of choice and if I don't get it, I don't know what I'll do. I've never done badly with a portfolio, but I have been super obsessive about these sorts of things in the past...

Well at this point in time I'm starting to get nervous because portfolio deadlines at my school are due at the end of April. When I see this I get a little nervous, but it also gives me a reason to be up at midnight sketching the random objects scattered everywhere.

I want to take that quote you said "You cannot break the rules until you've learned them" and just.. I don't know... distribute it on a plaque to some of the people I know.

I went 2500 miles away from my little town in rural united states to Canada just so I COULD pay 3,000 dollars to go to art school. Works out far better than the 30 - 50 thousand it costs to attend it in the US.

Wow I may or may not have been agreeable had it not been for that Gouache... I'm finishing up my first year of art school and my design teacher talked about gouache and basically said the exact same thing about it. It doesn't mix, it's super messy, and wont take you any further in your career. XD

My teacher did give us an option though.. either use gouache, or cut paper, as long as the paper is cut flawlessly.
